Mace is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Walnut Township, Montgomery County, in the U.S. state of Indiana.[1]

History

Mace, formerly called "Fredericksburg", was laid out in about 1840 by Frederick Long.[2] A post office was established at Mace in 1853, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912.[3]

Geography

Mace is located in eastern Montgomery County. It is bordered to the south by Linnsburg. U.S. Route 136 passes through the community, leading northwest Script error: No such module "convert". to Crawfordsville, the county seat, and southeast Script error: No such module "convert". to Jamestown. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Mace CDP has an area of Script error: No such module "convert"., all land.[4] It is drained to the north by an unnamed tributary of the Walnut Fork of Sugar Creek, which flows northwest to Sugar Creek at Crawfordsville and is part of the Wabash River watershed.
