It lies to the east of the Mississippi River.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,624 people, 533 households, and 459 families residing in the township. The population density was . There were 546 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the township was 98.77% White, 0.12% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.18% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.62% of the population.

There were 533 households, out of which 42.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 78.2% were married couples living together, 5.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.7% were non-families. 10.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
