Gilbert is a village in Franklin Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 521 at the 2010 census.[1]
The Gilbert welcome sign describes the village as the home of U.S. Lieutenant General Claire Chennault.[2]
Geography

As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 561 people, 207 households, and 150 families residing in the village. The population density was Script error: No such module "convert".. The racial makeup of the village was 62.21% White, 35.83% African American, 0.18% Native American, 1.25% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.96% of the population.
There were 207 households, out of which 36.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.8% were married couples living together, 19.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.1% were non-families. 24.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.25.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 30.3% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 years of age or older.
