Summary

Figure showing housing and fertility rate data for all advanced economies (excluding Israel) with a population greater than 1 million. Although Israel is regarded by many as an advanced country it does have unusual pressures that distort the birthrate. Specifically the Jewish community feel threatened by fast growing Arab and Palestinian populations, including those demanding a right of return from refugee camps. They are surrounded by people that do not believe that Israel has a right to exist. Israel has responded to this threat by bolstering their numbers of with a high flow sympathetic migrants and encouraging popular support for having children.
