| Purpose of use |
Used in the Acorn Electron article to illustrate the visual effect that would result when parts of the system's display buffer where used to store non-graphical data. This was sometimes done to work around the very limited memory available on the platform, and as a side effect this non-graphical data would be displayed on screen as seemingly random pixels outside the part of the screen used to display the actual graphics. This screenshot is a good example of this effect. |

I believe this screenshot is not replaceable except by other copyrighted screenshots from other games. In theory someone could write a free licensed program for the Acorn Electron using the same technique to produce the same effect and create a screenshot of it, but I believe it's best illustrated by a screenshot from one of the actual games that used this technique on the platform during its commercial lifetime. |
