| Description |
Screenshot from a "sketch that never gets started" in episode 42 of Monty Python's Flying Circus. Pictured is Douglas Adams, in surgeon's garb, pulling on a pair of gloves. The character's name is given as Dr. Emile Koning. Note that while the Python's script book for this episode indicates it should have been John Cleese, Cleese had left the programme. Adams's appearance in the role was confirmed first by Neil Gaiman and later by M.J. Simpson in their respective biographies of Adams. Screenshot was made from the US/Region 1 DVD release of Monty Python's Flying Circus. Episode 42? Image size 42kb? Coincidence? I think not. |

It is a low resolution screenshot, in an inferior graphics format (JPEG). |
| Purpose of use |
It is a rare glimpse of a celebrity writer and speaker in a television appearance before that person became famous. Douglas Adams, as best as can be determined, did not appear on television before his two appearances in Monty Python's Flying Circus, nor did he appear on television again until after The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy became famous in the late 1970s. The image is being used in the biographical article on Douglas Adams for informational and educational purposes. |
