Dover Township is a township in York County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 22,366 at the 2020 census.[1]
History
Pettit's Ford was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.[3]
Geography

Dover Township completely surrounds the borough of Dover and contains the census-designated place of Weigelstown.
Demographics

The racial makeup of the township was 88.7% white, 4.2% black, 1.1% Asian, 1.6% Native American, and 4.4% from other races. 4.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The racial makeup of the township was 93.6% white, 3.0% black, 0.8% Asian, 0.6% Native American, and 2% from other races. 2.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The racial makeup of the township was 97.25% White, 0.92% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.51% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. There were 6,999 households, out of which 33.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.0% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.9% were non-families. 20.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 2.93.
In the township the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 25.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 98.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.5 males.

Education
Dover Township is served by the Dover Area School District, including Dover Area High School.
