Clover Township was named for the red clover and white clover within its borders.

The racial makeup of the township was 91.77% White, 0.32% African American, 1.90% Native American, 3.80% from other races, and 2.22% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.75% of the population.
