The population was 728 at the 2020 census. Claysville Elementary School, part of the McGuffey School District is located in Claysville. It is the birthplace of Benjamin Franklin Jones of the Jones and Laughlin Steel Company.

History

The Montgomery House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The racial makeup of the borough was 99.45% White, 0.28% African American, and 0.28% from two or more races.
