Civil Georgia (Georgian: Script error: No such module "Lang".) is a Tbilisi-based daily news website run by Georgian NGO UN Association of Georgia.

Creation and funding

Civil Georgia was founded in July 2001 and is trilingual in Georgian, English, and Russian.[1]

Civil Georgia is supported by USAID, Friedrich Ebert Foundation and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the grants of which cover about 98% of the website's expenses.[2]

Activities and reach

As of January 2009, Civil Georgia claims to reach 10,000 daily visitors.[2]

Cyberspace attack

In August 2008, Civil.ge had down time during an attack by Russian crackers early in the Russo-Georgian war.[3]
