Personality trait theorists generally assume that personality traits are relatively stable over time, that personality traits differ among individuals, and that personality traits influence behavior.

Although trait theories of personality are currently the most dominant theories in the personality literature, it was the Greek philosopher Aristotle who first wrote about traits (dispositions) such as being brave, or modest.[1] Factor Analysis is a major technique used in the personality literature to come up with lists of personality factors based on large questionnaire sampling,[1]
