History

Butterfield Township was organized in 1872, and named for William Butterfield, a pioneer settler.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 297 people, 99 households, and 79 families residing in the township. The population density was . There were 110 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the township was 92.26% White, 2.02% Native American, 3.03% Asian, 2.69% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.40% of the population.

There were 99 households, out of which 40.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.7% were married couples living together, 4.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.2% were non-families. 17.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
