As of 2024, Azerbaijan has a crude birth rate of 10.0‰. Rural areas tend to have higher birth rates compared to urban areas (11.4‰ and 8.9‰, respectively).

As of 2024, the economic regions of Mountainous Shirvan and Lankaran-Astara have the highest birth rate in Azerbaijan. On the other hand, the Absheron-Khizi economic region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have the lowest birth rate in the country. The highest death rate is in the Gazakh-Tovuz economic region, while the lowest is in Absheron-Khizi.
