Extract energy?

As I understand it (from reading our space tether article and the Scientific American August 2004 article on space tethers), EDT's don't "extract energy from the Earth's magnetic field" as stated here; they just react against the magnetic field to produce thrust or drag. Does anyone disagree? --Heron 15:30, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

dubious

I don't think anyone uses this exact term except Wikpedia mirrors. Google Books shows nothing relevant, which is disquieting. "Phantom circuit", sure, "Phantom power", also legitimate - but not "Phantom loop". Suggest AfD unless this gets a solid reference soon. --Wtshymanski (talk) 15:35, 25 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
