I'm guessing that the Windows CryptoAPI is different from the Linux CryptoAPI? It's not obvious from the article whether this is the case. — Matt Crypto 19:50, 23 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Typing "Crypto API" is ambiguous because "crypto" is short for cryptography. So Windows has an API for crypto, and Linux has an API for crypto. Programmers use "CryptoAPI" frequently, but CryptoAPI is not a notable and proper name, so now "CryptoAPI" redirects to "Crypto API" where the user may choose which cryptographic Application Programmer Interface they want, Microsoft or Linux. One day that disambiguation page will be populated with all OS's crypto API's. I learned this from the WWW and Google's special "code search". — CpiralCpiral 06:15, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
