Hi Wlkernan, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!
Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :
Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!
Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)
Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you.
Please add in details of the copyright status of the pictures you are adding on. We may be able to use them under fair use but only if we know where they came from, when and what their status is. Otherwise, if we can't establish their copyright status they will all have to deleted, lest Wikipedia be sued for breach of copyright. Image:Pope-john-paul-ii-01.jpg has been added to Wikipedia:Copyright problems. I have verified that the image is subject to copyright and that the applicable rights are owned by Gerffert (US), distributors of holy cards for Bonella in Milan. Bonella has a history of litigation to protect its copyrights. Please verify that images are free as in libre before uploading. Per Wikipedia:Fair use, a claim on fair use would be very weak considering there are perhaps thousands of public domain images of John Paul II. --Mm3517320:16, 23 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
The image Image:Pope-john-paul-ii-01.jpg has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. If you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, please provide the necessary information.

Information needed or all your images will have to be deleted
Latest comment: 22 May 20051 comment1 person in discussion
Wklernan, you have been asked repeatedly to clarify the origins of your images. It isn't a minor point. Unless Wikipedia knows we have a legal right use them we will have to delete them. The images we can use are strictly governed by law. Unless you give information straight away on the origins of these images, all the images you have added which lack information on origins will be listed for deletion and deleted from articles. Everyone agreed that the images are great, but unless we know where they come from, especially has none of your images have any information, the presumption may be made that all are unusable because of copyright problems. Please give people in the information they and Wikipedia requires to ensure that images are not deleted. FearÉIREANNFile:Flag of Ireland.svg(talk)21:45, 22 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Charles-garter-robes.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use Template:Tl to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as Template:Tlp or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thanks for uploading Image:Pope-benedict-xv-01.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the Template:Tl tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as Template:Tlp or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

Dear uploader:
The media file you uploaded as File:Pope-pius-ix-03.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source),
or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.
It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media
clearer.
Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).
If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: Template:Tlxs will produce an appropriate expansion, or use the Template:Tl template.
If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
