2020

The 2020 United States census reported that Bystrom had a population of 3,957. The population density was Template:Convert. The racial makeup of Bystrom was 24.5% White, 0.8% African American, 2.6% Native American, 2.0% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 56.1% from other races, and 13.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 82.3% of the population.[6]

The census reported that 99.2% of the population lived in households, 0.8% lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and no one was institutionalized.[6]

There were 1,119 households, out of which 45.0% included children under the age of 18, 42.9% were married-couple households, 8.7% were cohabiting couple households, 26.3% had a female householder with no partner present, and 22.2% had a male householder with no partner present. 20.0% of households were one person, and 6.0% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 3.51.[6] There were 842 families (75.2% of all households).[7]

The age distribution was 29.8% under the age of 18, 11.4% aged 18 to 24, 26.0% aged 25 to 44, 21.9% aged 45 to 64, and 11.0% who were 65Template:Nbspyears of age or older. The median age was 31.3Template:Nbspyears. For every 100 females, there were 106.1 males.[6]

The racial makeup of Bystrom was 2,006 (50.0%) White, 79 (2.0%) African American, 62 (1.5%) Native American, 91 (2.3%) Asian, 18 (0.4%) Pacific Islander, 1,580 (39.4%) from other races, and 172 (4.3%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3,053 persons (76.2%).[9]

There were 123 (11.5%) unmarried opposite-sex partnerships, and 5 (0.5%) same-sex married couples or partnerships. 172 households (16.0%) were one person and 55 (5.1%) had someone living alone who was 65 or older. The average household size was 3.71. There were 826 families (77.1% of households); the average family size was 4.14.
