  • curprev 05:5905:59, 9 May 2025 2600:8802:170a:7100:19de:75fa:905b:f301 talk 30,129 bytes +30,129 20th century: confusing paragraph. this was written in 1972, so use past tense. much of this is obviously not true, at least as of 2025. it's an odd comparison, because western trimarans were inspired by proas, and racing trimarans were initially just modern, optimized proas. single-outriggers held the speed record in the 70s, but they were western-built and not traditional. and they beat doubles in the 70s, but doubles supplanted them in the 90s. like Yellow Pages Endeavor or Sailrocket.
