While it is true that he was "born into a wealthy Jewish family", Roy did not identify with being "Jewish". He was not religious, did not practice any religion, did not believe in any god, did not identify with anything related to Judaism. He said "god did not create man, man created god." To categorize Roy, a non-religious free-thinker is to misrepresent his fundamental views of life.
