This was added and edited many times with no citation and is not accurate or correct. There are diesel engines that do not use a blower for scavenging and the blower is not sized just for combustion needs and that's the whose scavenging part of the design that it forces extra air out with the exhaust gas to remove it for efficiency and power. I checked SAE publications and I'm a mechanic and this is just all chewed up and does not belong
