  • curprev 22:3522:35, 27 February 2025 imported>Ralph X. Williams III 10,682 bytes +10,682 →Other surface battles and aerial actions, 1942–1945: Removed USS Juneau (CL-52) from the list. The Juneau was in Ironbottom sound when she was hit by a destroyer launched torpedo, but didn't sink, so she headed toward Espiritu Santu (646 miles SE of Savo Island) for repairs. When about 49 miles south of the eastern end of Guadalcanal (a long way from Iron Bottom Sound) she was torpedoed by a submarine and sank.
