Arius wrote to Constantine "We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, and in His Son the Lord Jesus Christ, who was begoten from Him before all ages, God the Word, by whom all things were made". I think that saying Arius did not believe Jesus was God may be misleading because he believed he was "God the Word", while it is clear that he thought Jesus was created and not eternal. I am open to an alternative clarification
