Walshville is in southwestern Montgomery County, {{convert|12|mi}} southwest of [[Hillsboro, Illinois|Hillsboro]], the [[county seat]], {{convert|10|mi|0}} south of [[Litchfield, Illinois|Litchfield]], and {{convert|6|mi|0}} east of [[Mount Olive, Illinois|Mount Olive]].

According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], Walshville has a total area of {{convert|0.25|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, all land.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/> The village drains east to tributaries of the Lake Fork of [[Shoal Creek (Illinois)|Shoal Creek]], part of the [[Kaskaskia River]] watershed.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 34.8% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 33.7% from 25 to 44, 15.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females, there were 102.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 114.8 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $19,219, and the median income for a family was $19,375. Males had a median income of $80,102 versus $20,625 for females.
