Notification: listing of List of living Victoria Cross recipients at WP:Articles for deletion.

New page

Hey, welcome to wikipedia. I have been wikifying the dates and places of the various VC articles. I leave you List of Scottish Victoria Cross recipients and List of South African Victoria Cross recipients to do. Great work. Remember when you wikify not to wikify more than one instance of a single word in the whole article, though this may be broken if the page is quite long. Cheers. *Hey, I did south africa. Anyway, all the stuff before Danish needs to have the date and places wikified. If you are bot dumping this, it would be a lot easier for you to do. Cheers. Burgundavia 10:22, Jun 27, 2004 (UTC)

**I don't think a list should have all the dates and places wikifies - surely these go on the actual recipient pages that are linked from that list? - far too many wiki links otherwise? Sorry had not noticed any other VC lists - will now add to master VC page. MikeC 10:30, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Hi. I've just discovered the migration project and I think it is wonderful that you intend to copy this content to Wikipedia. I have left a message at the Village Pump letting people know about it. Regards Mintguy (T) 00:08, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)

List of Rhodesian Victoria Cross recipients
I've migrated a bit of information from the VC Reference page to here, specifically about the three Rhodesian recepients of the award. Is this the style you'd like other pages to be done in? DO'Neil 01:22, Jul 5, 2004 (UTC)

Actually, nevermind, it seems that each recipient should have his own page. I'll do that now, sorry for wasting your time. DO'Neil 07:40, Jul 5, 2004 (UTC)

Congratulations and a suggestion
Hi Mike, just wanted to send kudos on this project, very worthy. Also wanted to point out that it looks like there may be a minor problem with the way the Wikipedia formatting on http://www.victoriacross.net is being done, specifically with internal links within vc.net. E.g. I just migrated Edward Kenna and the third external link on the Wikipedia page hasn't translated properly. Looks like it was a relative link on vc.net and so some extra processing is neccesary to make it work on Wikipedia. Pasd 02:51, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)

P.S. I have removed the link from the Wikipedia article, it appeared to be dead when I tried to fix it manually. However you can still see it in the history of the page. Pasd 02:58, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Willing but not able
Great idea Mike, but I tried to migrate ten pages from the 'not yet migrated' page on the archive, and all of them had actually been done- its just that nobody bothered to click the button indicating this. I tried to post this on the archive's message board but it isn't working.--Cynical 17:40, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Bruce Steel Kingsbury
I noticed that this page is signed by some guy with a Hotmail address, and has a copyright notice on it. Is this part of the migration process? grendel|khan 16:22, 2005 Mar 23 (UTC)

License information on Victoria Cross
Hi, have you addressed the licensing issues with the Victoria Cross database? In particular, has the information been cleaned of non-PD material? Note that specific permission for Wikipedia is not kosher by our licensing policies. --Improv 16:43, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
