To my belief this platform started out with the 2001 european Mondeo (Mk III). The body (without it's face) resembels the Fusion exactly! So I guess that a significant amout of development came from Cologne, Germany. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mondeo#Mk_III_.282000-2007.29 Dan3k5 09:52, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

It seems likely the Tribute and Escape will move to the C1 (Focus/Mazda3/S40) platform when it's time for a redesign, which would coincide with the new Focus coming to North America (a coupe years after the debut in Europe). The CD3 SUVs Ford and Mazda are getting are larger and related to the Aviator concept mentiones. -- stewacide
I didn't know that. Good catch! --Stephen 13:16, Aug 4, 2004 (UTC)
CD3 or D3?
I note that there is some confusion between the CD3 and D3 platforms.

This article claims the two are synonymous. Then why is there a seperate Ford D3 platform article? Either they are the same or they are not. We should either have one article if they are the same, or two that explain the difference if they are not the same. —Morven 22:32, Aug 17, 2004 (UTC)

:CD3 is the Mazda platform, D3 is the Volvo. They're different and confusingly named!--SFoskett 13:37, Aug 19, 2004 (UTC)
"CD3 2"
Is the 2010 Ford Fusion and cousins on a new (or significantly revised) platform? Because it looks like nothing more than an extensive facelift. Editing the article accordingly.
