It is a duet between Irish singer [[Lisa Hannigan]] and [[Snow Patrol]] frontman [[Gary Lightbody]], written by [[Bell X1 (band)|Bell X1]] frontman [[Paul Noonan]]. The song was performed live by the duo for the first and only time at the [[2008 Meteor Awards]]. In addition the song featured on an episode of the popular [[prime time]] U.S. medical drama television series ''[[Grey's Anatomy]]'' after which it was made available to download on [[iTunes]].

"Some Surprise" was written by [[Paul Noonan]] of [[Bell X1 (band)|Bell X1]] and is performed by [[Lisa Hannigan]] and [[Gary Lightbody]].<ref name="The Cake Sale RTÉ Review"/> The song was initially intended to be sung solo by Noonan, with Hannigan on backing vocals and harmonies.
