Patsy Rouzer Keever was born and raised in [[Charlotte, North Carolina]].  She attended NC public schools and graduated from [[Duke University]] with a B.A. in Elementary Education.  She started graduate work, earning a master&amp;#039;s degree in education from [[Western Carolina University]].  Keever and her late husband John F. Keever was a teacher for over 25 years. For the majority of her career, she taught 8th grade social studies and language arts.
