It belongs to the [[Districts of Madagascar|district]] of [[Amparafaravola District|Amparafaravola]], which is a part of the [[Alaotra-Mangoro Region]]. This town lies on the junction of [[Route nationale 3a (Madagascar)|National road 3a]] and [[Route nationale 33 (Madagascar)|National road 33]] and also the MLA (Moramanga-Lac Alaotra) railways.

Primary and junior-level secondary education are available in town. The majority (92%) of the population of the commune are farmers.
