'''Hyliard Chappell''' (April 16, 1916 – March 5, 1988) was a [[Canadian]] lawyer and politician.

Born in [[Barrie]], [[Ontario]], he graduated from the [[Osgoode Hall Law School]] in 1943. He worked in the law firm of first [[Chairman of the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto|chairman of Metropolitan Toronto]], [[Fred Gardiner]], and started his own firm in 1949 (known today as Chappell, Bushell and Stewart).

He was a councillor from 1947 to 1950 for [[Toronto Gore Township, Ontario|Toronto Gore Township]] council and from 1960 to 1962 for the [[Toronto Township, Ontario|Township of Toronto]] council.<ref name=Hansard>{{Cite web |url=http://www.ontla.on.ca/french/hansard/house_debates/34_parl/session1/L041.htm#P18_3520 |title=Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Hansard |access-date=2006-11-24 |archive-date=2007-01-01 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070101091016/http://www.ontla.on.ca/french/hansard/house_debates/34_parl/session1/L041.htm#P18_3520 |url-status=dead }}</ref> He was elected as the [[Liberal Party of Canada|Liberal]] candidate to the [[House of Commons of Canada]] for the riding of [[Peel South]] in the [[1968 Canadian federal election|1968 federal election]].
