Human settlement dates back to ancient times. [[Roman Empire|Ancient Roman]] coins from the time of Emperors [[Theodosius II]], [[Valentinian III]], [[Leo I (emperor)|Leo I]] and [[Libius Severus]] have been discovered in the village.&amp;lt;ref name=sgk854&amp;gt;{{cite book|author=&amp;lt;!--Staff writer(s); no by-line.--&amp;gt; |title=Słownik geograficzny Królestwa Polskiego i innych krajów słowiańskich, Tom II|year=1881|language=pl|location=Warsaw|page=854}}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; The oldest known location [[Privilege (law)|privilege]] of the village dates back to 1365.&amp;lt;ref name=sgk854/&amp;gt; In 1410, Polish King [[Władysław II Jagiełło]] granted the village to the New Town of [[Elbląg]] as a reward for its support against the Teutonic Knights in the [[Polish–Lithuanian–Teutonic War]].&amp;lt;ref name=sgk855&amp;gt;{{cite book|author=&amp;lt;!--Staff writer(s); no by-line.--&amp;gt; |title=Słownik geograficzny Królestwa Polskiego i innych krajów słowiańskich, Tom II|page=855}}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; During the [[Thirteen Years&amp;#039; War (1454–1466)|Thirteen Years&amp;#039; War]], in 1457, King [[Casimir IV Jagiellon]] granted the village to the Old Town of Elbląg, which led to a long dispute between the Old and New Towns over the village, however, it effectively remained under the administration of the Old Town.&amp;lt;ref name=sgk855/&amp;gt; According to account books from 1533, grapes were grown on the hill adjacent to the village.&amp;lt;ref name=sgk855/&amp;gt; No later than 1609, a paper mill was established in the village.&amp;lt;ref name=sgk855/&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
