&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Eugene Emmett Garbee&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (May 29, 1907 – November 8, 1996) was an [[American football]] and [[basketball]] coach and college administrator. Garbee was born on May 29, 1907, in [[Billings, Missouri]].&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;{{cite book|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=dKugAAAAMAAJ&amp;amp;q=%22Garbee%22+AND+%22Appalachian%22+1907 |title=Who&amp;#039;s who in American education: a biographical dictionary of eminent living ... - Robert Cecil Cook - Google Books |via=[[Google Books]]|access-date=January 21, 2012|last1=Cook |first1=Robert Cecil |year=1963 }}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; He graduated from Southwest Missouri State Teacher&amp;#039;s College–now known as [[Missouri State University]]–in 1931 with a bachelor&amp;#039;s degree.  He later earned a master&amp;#039;s degree from George Peabody College—now [[Peabody College]], a division of [[Vanderbilt University]]—and a doctorate from [[New York University]].  He taught health and physical education at [[Drake University]] from 1949 to 1952. Garbee was president of [[Upper Iowa University]] from 1952 to 1970.
