As a commune, El Bosque is a third-level [[administrative division of Chile]] administered by a [[municipal council]], headed by an [[alcalde]] who is directly elected every four years. The 2024-2028 mayor is Sadi Melo Moya ([[Socialist Party of Chile|PS]]). The communal council has the following members:
