Born in [[Montreal]], [[Quebec]], he was educated at [[Selwyn House School]]&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[https://archive.org/stream/selwynhouseschoo1958selw/selwynhouseschoo1958selw_djvu.txt Selwyn House School Yearbook 1958]&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; and [[Bishop&amp;#039;s College School]].&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1946&amp;amp;dat=19810928&amp;amp;id=44AxAAAAIBAJ&amp;amp;sjid=9KQFAAAAIBAJ&amp;amp;pg=1097,3557485&amp;amp;hl=en Godin put his chips on Chambers to find jobs for minorities]&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; He was elected to the [[House of Commons of Canada]] in the [[1958 Canadian federal election|1958 federal election]] in the riding of [[St. Lawrence—St. George]]. A [[Progressive Conservative Party of Canada|Progressive Conservative]], he was defeated in [[1962 Canadian federal election|1962]]. He also ran unsuccessfully in the [[1953 Canadian federal election|1953]], [[1957 Canadian federal election|1957]], [[1965 Canadian federal election|1965]] elections and a 1954 [[by-election]]. From 1959 to 1961 and in 1962, he was the [[Parliamentary Secretary]] to the [[Minister of National Defence (Canada)|Ministers of National Defence]] [[George Pearkes]] and [[Douglas Harkness]].&lt;br /&gt;

He was the husband of journalist [[Gretta Chambers]] and brother-in-law of philosopher [[Charles Taylor (philosopher)|Charles Taylor]]. Chambers is buried in Mount Royal Cemetery in Montreal.&lt;br /&gt;
