Born in [[Rio de Janeiro]], Viveiros de Castro taught at the ''[[École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales]]'', the [[University of Chicago]], and at the [[University of Cambridge]]. Among his principal contributions is the understanding of Amerindian perspectivism.
