It is a tree or shrub with egg-shaped or lance-shaped leaves, the flowers creamy-green and perfumed, and the fruit a spherical to elliptic, black [[drupe]].

==Description==
''Cryptocarya williwilliana'' is a tree or shrub that typically grows to a height of {{cvt|6|m}} and has fluted twigs. Its leaves are egg-shaped to broadly elliptic or lance-shaped,{{cvt|15–40|mm}} long and {{cvt|5–20|mm}} wide on a [[Petiole (botany)|petiole]] {{cvt|3–4|mm}} long. The flowers are creamy-green and perfumed, usually arranged in a [[raceme]] in leaf axils, but shorter than the leaves, the [[perianth]] tube {{cvt|1.3–2|mm}} long and {{cvt|0.9–1|mm}} wide and hairy inside near the tip. The [[tepal]]s are softly-hairy, the outer tepals {{cvt|1.4–2.0|mm}} long and {{cvt|1.0–1.2|mm}} wide, the inner tepals {{cvt|1.5–2.1|mm}} long and {{cvt|1.1–1.4|mm}} wide, the outer [[Stamen#Morphology and terminology|anthers]] {{cvt|0.5–0.7|mm}} long and wide, the inner anthers {{cvt|0.6–0.8|mm}} long and {{cvt|0.4–0.6|mm}} wide.
