The Coventry Simplex engine was an early single cylinder, 7hp friction drive engine. These were fitted to “the pilot” car made in london between 1909-1911. (Pilot motors and Friction cars) amongst other small manufacturers around that time. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
It had a large circular weight that would spin with the engine- similar to the toy friction cars we have today. &lt;br /&gt;
The engine had a small spoon shaped oiler on the bottom of the crank, that flicked up oil as the engine was running to lubricate the white metal bearings.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
