She made her stage debut in 1938 in &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Hay Fever (play)|Hay Fever]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; at the Knightstone Theatre, Weston-super-Mare. Her roles include Mrs. Brown in the 1982 [[Granada Television]] adaptation of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[A Kind of Loving (TV series)|A Kind of Loving]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; and Anne in the Children&amp;#039;s science fiction series, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The Georgian House]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1976). Her many comedy roles included appearances in the [[John Cleese]] film &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Clockwise (film)|Clockwise]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1986), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Victoria Wood As Seen On TV]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, and playing [[Uncle Albert]]&amp;#039;s girlfriend, Elsie Partridge, in an episode of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Only Fools and Horses]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;.
