He was born on June 11, 1886, in [[Burton, Georgia]]. Claud attended college at the [[University of Georgia]]. He played five seasons in his career, for the [[Philadelphia Athletics]] in {{Baseball year|1910}}-{{Baseball year|1912}}, the [[New York Yankees]] in {{Baseball year|1913}}, and the [[Cincinnati Reds]] and [[Chicago Cubs]] in {{Baseball year|1914}}.
