'''Edwin Smith "Chaucer" Elliott''' (August 20, 1878{{snd}}March 13, 1913) was a [[Canadians|Canadian]] [[Sportsperson|sportsman]] and a [[Hockey Hall of Fame|Hall of Fame]] [[Official (ice hockey)|referee]] and [[Official (ice hockey)|linesman]]. He was the grandfather of [[Bob Elliott (sportswriter)|Bob Elliott]], one of Canada's most respected [[sports journalism|sports writers]].

==Early life and education==
Born in [[Kingston, Ontario]], Elliott played hockey and football at his hometown [[Queen's University at Kingston|Queen's University]]. ==Career==
