Bloodgood attended [[DePauw University]] and then at the [[University of Nebraska-Lincoln]] where he earned varsity letters as a [[quarterback]] in 1923 and 1924. When the Kansas City Cowboys franchise folded at the end of 1926, he followed his player-coach [[LeRoy Andrews]] as the team essentially relocated as the [[Cleveland Bulldogs]] for its 1927 and final season.
