The &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;1971 Masters&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; was a men&amp;#039;s [[tennis]] tournament played on indoor [[carpet court]]s at the [[Stade Pierre de Coubertin (Paris)|Coubertin Stadium]] in [[Paris]], France.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;{{cite news | title=Two for Smith | date=6 December 1971 | agency=The Province | pages=17}}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt;  It was the 2nd edition of the [[ATP World Tour Finals|Masters Grand Prix]] and was the season-ending event of the [[1971 Grand Prix (tennis)|1971 Grand Prix circuit]]. The tournament consisted of a round robin competition for the seven highest points scorers of the Grand Prix circuit. [[John Newcombe]] and [[Ken Rosewall]], players signed to the rival [[1971 World Championship Tennis circuit|World Championship Circuit]] but who also took part in several Grand Prix tournaments, had qualified for the event but declined to participate.
