I saw your template up for deletion and wanted to let you know that if you really, really want to, you can make one or more pages like [[User:Jordan Elder/mytemplate]] and then include its contents anywhere with <nowiki>{{User:Jordan Elder/mytemplate}}</nowiki> or <nowiki>{{subst:User:Jordan Elder/mytemplate}}</nowiki>.  I have a few of these that I use for certain purposes, usually within my user space.

I wouldn't use this for sigs, though.  A few comments:
* As you've heard, 4 tildes is easier.
* You shouldn't use a template for sigs.
* If you use a template for sigs, which you shouldn't, you should make sure to subst it.
* The cool thing about your template is it meant that the date respected date preferences, so I saw it as ISO standard.  Which I liked, but still they should just fix that in the Mediawiki software rather than requiring that kind of rigamarole (and encouraging the bad practice of templates in sigs).
* I don't like colored signatures.  But clearly I'm in the extreme minority here.  I'm hoping that practice just goes away eventually. :)  Personal preference.
