Edit war
Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing&mdash;especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring&mdash;even if you do not violate the three-revert rule&mdash;should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.<!-- Template:uw-3rr --> Solidest (talk) 15:35, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
:We've each reverted the other's edits several times Solidest, but if you insist on reverting it every time, I will just change the colour in my future substantial edit. Threatening to get the person who spent dozens of hours to improve an article with proper citations blocked so that you can get your preferred colour scheme is definitely tacky though. There's nothing that says an article has to use a particular colour any more than it has to use one system of English spelling or one particular citation style. I'd urge you to reconsider whether this patrolling to "fix" colours is at all worth your time, especially considering many of the colour combos are against the principles of accessible visual contrast for low vision readers.Dan Carkner (talk) 15:48, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
::I plan to completely redesign genre's color scheme (see talk page of color table) and so I'm bringing everything back to the existing guidlines and one view so I don't miss anything. And that includes starting to meet the standards for visually impaired people. I suggested you use a folk color (or remove the color altogether), but you keep adding colors that are both unused and similar to what is used for blues genres at the same time. Allowing anyone to use whatever colors they want is not a good idea, as it violates the principles of encyclopedic standardization and leads to chaos. And the fact that you're ignoring other people's requests not to do so is like violating the principle of WP:AGF. If you continue principles of edit war without trying to reach a consensus on talk page, then I will be forced to appeal to the administration. Solidest (talk) 16:02, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
:::I don't know what you would be reporting me for. Wikipedia is huge there is room for different ways of writing and formatting articles as long as it meets the general principles of the manual of style. To say having a blue infobox would lead to chaos, is hyperbole. No one is even aware of the genre colour scheme except the handful of people interested in that wikiproject. There's nothing at all in the manual of style that refers to having to match social categories to colour codes - quite the opposite, it has some language against using colour to communicate information rather than text itself. :Interesting. I wasn't aware of it. I just skimmed the discussion from back when it was deleted in 2010. I'm not sure I would find it as useful as a Wikipedia category even though it's clearly related to Political prisoners (perhaps broader but also perhaps more subjective). Of course there are more ways to be politically persecuted than just imprisonment but I'm not sure about that one. --Dan Carkner (talk) 05:12, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

CfR (Female → Women composers, musicians, etc.)
Hi! You were helpful in supporting
a recent CfR for changing categories like "American female classical composers" to "American women classical composers". Because I'd already had another related CfR approved, I thought double-precedent would be enough to switch to "speedy" for my next batch; unfortunately that doesn't seem to have as many eyes on it. Would you mind looking over the current CfR (below the collapsed yellow bar on that page) and, if it still seems reasonable to you, supporting it? Thanks so much! // Knifegames (talk) 18:35, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

:...Apologies if this isn't how (speedy) CfRs work, by the way; I'm new to these! // Knifegames (talk) 18:45, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
::I don't mind being tagged about stuff like this but I read the thread and it seems a bit different than the other such discussions I participated in where people comment support, oppose, delete, etc. Am I just supposed to add my opinion at the bottom in a general way? --Dan Carkner (talk) 00:57, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
:::Oh jeez, I totally missed this response––thanks for getting back to me! It turns out there's no need: I was slightly concerned when there were questions in a forum where, as you said, there isn't a lot of feedback being given, but someone came through & processed the batch, hurray... == Rahmah el Yunusiyah - good article collaboration? ==

Hi Dan! I'm thinking about trying to get Rahmah el Yunusiyah to Good Article status sometime soon, perhaps nominating it in early August. It could take a couple months to get reviewed, or it could get picked up right away; you never know. Would you be interested in being a co-nominator and helping me respond to suggestions/improvements during the review? Thanks for all your contributions to the article so far; the DYK got over 2000 hits! —Ganesha811 (talk) 02:15, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

:FYI, I've now nominated the article for GA status, in case you are interested in making any further improvements or changes before the GA review begins (which could be any time from next week to next year!). If not, no worries, I'm planning to be the primary responder and fix any issues brought up in GA review. Happy editing! :I tagged for more citations because the article is only sourced to an Oxford paper at the moment, but there is plenty of books on him online and I'm eager to see the upcoming expansions. == Taleeb Noormohamed page ==

Hi. I noticed you'd contributed to the Nooromohamed page and I'd be curious to ask your opinion on a constant and ongoing issue of certain specific users removing content from that page.

At least a few other editors have noted that these individuals are invariably removing content, to such an extent that my first introduction to the problem was when one editor asked "whoever is acting on this individuals behalf" to stop doing it.

i have dedicated myself to making sure this page reflects as much as necessary about this particular elected public official, keeping in mind the WP: Bio guidelines.
It continues to be challenging and I am certain beyond any doubt that the upcoming election will see many many fingers attempting to remove the well-sourced and pertinent content I have added.

I think you will quickly discover what I am talking about should you spend any amount of time looking through the pages history.

I would be grateful if you could occasionally monitor the page to ensure good practices are upheld.
Thanks! NiceTryEarl (talk) 05:08, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

:I watch the page. I live in the adjacent riding to his, but I don't follow what he gets up to too much--however it does seem clear that there are people who are either hyper partisan or undeclared paid editors who occasionally make a pass and buff the reputation of him and other Liberals. I'll try my best to keep an eye out for things that go beyond simple editing and framing to reputation laundering. Dan Carkner (talk) 16:17, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
::Thanks for the recent rollback on Noormohamed's page. I've been rather busy the last little while and remembered to check in on it again. I think careful consideration and much discussion should take place before banning an editor, but I truly believe the repeated and ongoing deletion of sourced information by this editor warrants it. == Invite to Join Wikipedia Asian Month 2023 ==

You are receiving this message because you participated in the Wikipedia Asian Month 2022 as an organizer or editor.

<big>Dear all,</big>

<big>The Wikipedia Asian Month 2023[1] is coming !</big> <big>The campaign start within a flexible 30 days from November to December. Following with the changes of the rules made by last year, the wish to have more people get to know Asia and Asian related topic is the same! </big><big>Click "Here" to Organize/Join a WAM Event.</big>

1. Propose "Focus Theme" related to Asia !

If you are based somewhere in Asia, or have specific passion on an Asian topic, please propose your "Focus Theme" by October 25th. The WAM international team will select 5 themes. Please propose your focus theme through this link[2].

2. Enhancing existing articles can also count as part of campaign contribution.

Any edits, including creating new articles or adding new content to existing articles, over 3000 bytes in total would be able to get a reward. Last year, due to this change of rules, the Programs & Events Dashboard was suggested. However, according to community survey of 2022, Fountain Tool is still the best platform for tracking edit and points. You don’t need to create any Dashboard. For the tracking of editing existing article, the international team is currently designing a form. Will soon publish to the main page of WAM 2023.

3. More flexible campaign time

The contribution duration would remain 30days, but we extended the overall campaign timeline to 2 months. All organizers can decide when to start their WAM as long as the whole duration is within November 1st to December 31th. It means that you can participate in WAM based on the needs of your local community.

Timetable

* October 1st, 2023 : Publish International Campaign Page of the Year
* October 5th to 25th, 2023 : Call for focus themes of WAM 2023.
* Before 29 October, 2023: Complete Registration [3] of Each language Wikipedia.
* November 1st, UTC 00:00 to December 31th, UTC 00:00, 2023: Running the Campaign. (Find your local campaign for the actual event date.)
* January 1st to March 15th, 2024: Auditing of each language Wikipedia.
* March 30th, 2024: Deadline of reporting statistics and eligible editors to the International Team
* April 1st to May 15th, 2024: The international team distributes Barnstars and Certificates to eligible editors of each event.

For your information, the main page of Wikipedia Asian Month is currently undertaking a reconstruction for archiving purpose. For the 2023 event please bookmarked this page. We hope you will enjoy Wikipedia Asian Month! If you have any inquiry, feel free to contact us by info@asianmonth.wiki [4].
<big>
We look forward to your participation.

Cheers!!!

Would welcome suggestions for cats/projects for my William Robyn page
Hi Dan -- I saw that you updated the location of the birthplace of the guy I started an article for, William Robyn. I do not know that space very well (Jewish music especially) and it seems like it's really up your alley and I would welcome the addition of any categories or projects you feel would be useful. Thank you! Jessamyn (my talk page) 22:02, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

Hey there and thanks for contributing the article to WAM. However, I've had to temporarily decline the article for now over a minor issue: please see fountain for more details. The article will be accepted once that is sorted out. <B><span style="color:#0038A8">Naruto</span><span style="color:#FCD116">love</span><span style="color:#CE1126">hinata</span>5</B> (talk · contributions) 10:18, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

:@Narutolovehinata5 OK, that may result in it not being accepted, there was no mention of his death date in any source I could find, let alone a meta mention of the fact it's unknown. Not unusual for figures of this time, especially when it comes to communists who became unmentionable in Indonesia from 1965-1999. Dan Carkner (talk) 14:50, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

Creating categories
Hi, when you create categories, please think about what topics intersect at that point, and add more than one parent category to represent all the relevant hierarchies.

For a case like :Category:1909 establishments in the Dutch East Indies, please look at neighbouring categories, and then copy (and if necessary, adapt) whatever templates are used on such pages.

Thank you for being a valuable member here! – Fayenatic <span style="color:#FF0000;">L</span>ondon 20:55, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
:Further to the above, in 2023 there was consensus to merge sparsely-populated categories for disestablishments in Dutch East Indies, see Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2023_April_19#Category:Disestablishments_in_the_Dutch_Empire_by_year. I have therefore nominated three for speedy merging; please see WP:CFDS. Although I deleted 1947 under WP:G4, I have left 1942 as well-populated and 1944 & 1945 as part of a better-populated sequence (covering the Japanese occupation). – Fayenatic <span style="color:#FF0000;">L</span>ondon 14:29, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
::OK - I created those quite a while ago and haven't been very active creating them since, but I appreciate the diligence and accept whatever management has to happen with those. Dan Carkner (talk) 16:42, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

The World Destubathon
Hello. You're invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It will be held from Monday June 16 - Sunday July 13. There is over $3300 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning something to save you money in buying books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for subjects which interest you, sign up on the page in the participants section if interested. Even if you can only manage a few articles they would be very much appreciated and help make the content produced as diverse and broad as possible! ♦ <span style="font-variant:small-caps;color:#aba67e">Dr. Blofeld</span> 18:18, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
