: Hello, Ahseaton.  I am aware of this 300th Anniversary of the [[Acts of Union 1707]]. I have already put this on the selected anniversary template for May 1st a few days ago. It was a merge that involved two parties. I find it inappropriate to put this on MainPage on the anniversary of the Scottish vote and ignore the anniversary of the English vote. (The reverse would also be bad. BTW, I can't find the date of the English vote.) So, I chose to feature this on the anniversary of the merge to avoid the appearance of a bias towards one of the two groups. Moreover, I think May 1st, 1707 is the more significant date. SUI did look there.  For US carriers, the first "supercarrier" was the USS Forestal launched in 1955.  If you want to say the Ark Royal is the first supercarrier then the Essex Class entry should read 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.  If you want to say when did the US supercarriers outnumber the Essex Class, then that didn't happen until the 1970s.
