I'm a retired male in the [[United States|U.S.A.]], more specifically, [[New England]]. Long ago, I earned a bachelor's degree in general engineering ([[computer science]] major) and a masters degree in [[software engineering]]). My working career was mostly in [[software development]], particularly [[embedded systems|embedded]] [[telecommunication|telecom]] applications, but I also had stints in [[horticulture]] and [[package delivery]]. Perhaps more than most engineers (although probably not more than most [[Wikipedia:Wikipedians|Wikipedians]]), I am very interested in writing and editing, and more generally, [[language]] and [[linguistics]]. I enjoy a variety of recreational activities, particularly [[orienteering]], [[hiking]], [[running]], and [[contra dancing]].
