From 2002 to 2007 he was a research scientist studying protein structure at the [[RIKEN]], Harima Institute located at the [[SPring-8]] [[synchrotron]] facility near [[Himeji]], [[Hyogo]], [[Japan]].  He lived in the town of [[Aioi, Hyogo|Aioi]].
During that time he was [[Dojocho]] of Himeji Shodokan Aikido. 

Until recently he was a senior manager at a Pharmaceutical Research company in [[Shanghai]], [[China]].

He now does similar work near [[Cambridge]] and lives in [[London]], [[England]].

Contributions to Wikipedia have included expansion and fixes to [[aikido]] related articles and martial arts in general.
