I am a Graduate of [[Archaeological science]] with a [[Bachelor of Science|BSc]] Honors Degree from the [[University of Liverpool]]. I also hold a Masters Degree ([[Master's degree|MSc]]) in Archaeological Materials from the [[University of Nottingham]]. I have particular interests in minimally-destructive and non-destructive analytical [[spectroscopy]], [[microscopy]] and [[microanalysis]]. I have specific interests in the techniques of [[scanning electron microscopy]], [[x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy]], [[laser induced breakdown spectroscopy]], [[Fourier transform spectroscopy|fourier transform infrared spectroscopy]] and [[Raman spectroscopy]].

I also have an interest in [[Laser|lasers]], [[radio|radio communications]], [[personal computer|personal computers]] and [[firearms]]. I hold a United Kingdom Section 1 [[Gun politics in the United Kingdom|Firearm Certificate]] (FAC) and have over eighteen years of firearms experience. I am a qualified and practicing NRA (UK) [[Shooting range|Range Conducting Officer]] (RCO), and I [[handload]] all of my own ammunition.

I have worked with personal computers for over fifteen years, and as a result I have extensive knowledge of both PC hardware and software, as well as [[peripheral|peripheral devices]]. I am a proponent of [[Free and open source software|FOSS]] and run [[Linux]] on all of my home PCs, with my primary computer running [[Ubuntu (operating system)|Ubuntu]]

I am currently employed as the senior material scientist for a growing international company that conducts predictive maintenance and forensic failure analysis.
