It was founded on 1 November 1994. The initial fund of the foundation was contributed by the [[Taiwan Stock Exchange]], [[Taiwan Securities Association]], and [[Taiwan Depository & Clearing]].<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.otc.org.tw/en/about/introduction/history.php |title=History |access-date=2008-07-25 |publisher=GTSM }}</ref> Its headquarters is in the [[Zhongzheng District]] of [[Taipei City]]. In February 2015, the Gre Tai Securities Market changed its name to Taipei Exchange.
