== Failure to maintain ==

The portal currently fails to meet the required standards of the [[Wikipedia:Featured portal criteria|Featured portal criteria]], in particular 1(d) (well-maintained). "Featured portals that require maintenance and are not updated for three or more months are summarily demoted."  I see the following problems:
#The "selected picture" for September is a [[Portal:Politics/Selected_picture/September 2010|redlink]], as it was in [[Portal:Politics/Selected_picture/August 2010|August]], [[Portal:Politics/Selected_picture/July 2010|July]] and [[Portal:Politics/Selected_picture/June 2010|June]]
#The "selected article" has been [[Initiative]] since [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Portal:Politics&diff=242477104&oldid=241511768 October 2008]
#The "selected biography" has been [[Geert Wilders]] since [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Portal:Politics/Biography&diff=prev&oldid=327151747 November 2009]
#The "selected quote" has been one of Wilders' utterances (remarkable variety in the portal, don't you think?) since [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Portal:Politics/Quotes&diff=next&oldid=294685037 December 2009]
I will leave messages at the portal's associated WikiProjects and see whether there are any improvements quickly, otherwise a visit to Featured Portal Review looms... It would probably be a good idea to have a look at some of the recent Featured Portals to see how to use a system of random subpages so that manual or monthly updates are no longer necessary. == Lack of Consistency with Democracy  ==

The Democracy page notes several forms of Democracy, yet almost non of those are noted sub lists of Democracy on the list of Governments bar on the side (linking to the politics portal). To me, it seems that this lack of congruence could be problematic.

== Bolding on legislative election templates ==

I've noticed that {{ping|Thiscouldbeauser}} is bolding the party placed first on the infobox of pretty much every legislatives election pages. Has there ever been a discussion on this? I don't think it's a good idea. It's not like a presidential election with a single winner. In multi members proportional elections, several parties can win, as governements are coalitions ones. And the party arriving first isn't necessarily the winner. It's not unusual for a party that came in second place to ally with one on, say, fourth place and get together the majority of seats, thus relegating the first place party in the opposition. Well, I'm in Australia and the last election we had was the [[2022 Australian federal election]]. While Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party (the main centre-left party in Australia) won a majority of seats and therefore he is now Prime Minister, Scott Morrison (the previous Prime Minister) and the Coalition (a coalition of the Liberal Party and the National Party, the two main centre-right parties in Australia) won the majority of first-preference votes. Is there a MOS or other guideline for how to write a politician's party and state in an article? I always assumed it would be like "Rep. Name (D-NY) or something, but an addition I made recently was changed dramatically. I've been looking for something to use as a reference if a change is necessary, but I can't find it yet. Thanks.
