The '''Pakistan Education and Research Network''' (PERN) is a nationwide initiative aimed at connecting prominent educational institutions and research centers. It provides high-speed networking solutions, including internet access, intranet services, and bandwidth for research and educational purposes. PERN is also undergoing a major upgrade to its infrastructure, which will enable ultra-fast 40Gbps backbone connectivity. This upgrade will link 50 cities across Pakistan, creating an advanced network that connects local institutions to national and international research and educational resources.
